Author Neil Gaiman comments on the future of The Sandman and surprises with his claim that new episodes are far from certain.

Too expensive for Netflix?

A fan on Twitter was upset about why there were so many requests for a second season “The Sandman” fear when the series conquers the charts and breaks records. Gaiman replied very simply: “Because Sandman is a really expensive show.” New episodes are only given the green light if the production is truly worthy of a streaming service. “And for Netflix to spend the money to do another season, we need to do incredibly well. So, yes, we’ve been the best show in the world for the last two weeks. But that might not be enough.”

Running scripts

So if you want to know what’s in store for Dream (Sturridge), you should immediately schedule a rerun of the series to show Netflix once again how well The Sandman is being received.
