The hit fantasy series The Witcher is making a big move: lead actor Henry Cavill, 39, who previously played the titular hero Geralt of Rivia, is stepping down ahead of season four, Netflix has just confirmed. Australian actor Liam Hemsworth (32) plays this role. Hemsworth is known from the Hunger Games film series, among others. Cavill and Hemsworth themselves confirmed the surprising cast change on Instagram.
As series star Cavill wrote:[…] I will put the medallion and swords in the fourth season. In my place, the fantastic Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take up the mantle of the White Wolf.” Describing his predecessor as an “incredible Geralt,” Hemsworth is honored to take on the character. At the same time, the star is open about the fact that, given Cavill’s excellent performance, he will not have an easy task and he has “big shoes to fill”.
