Lose weight with chocolate and red wine: sirt food diet for connoisseurs

The sirt food diet seems promising: Lose kilos with full enjoyment – even chocolate and red wine are allowed. It worked for singer Adele! You can find out what this diet trend is and how it works here.

Adele recently wowed us not only with her music, but also with her freshly slimmed body. After separating from her husband, the British woman spent a lot of time in the gym – and changed her diet.

As the Daily Mail newspaper reports, fitness trainer Dalton Wong is at her side. In addition to strength training and Pilates, he relies on sirt food. The word hides a very special protein: sirtuin. This protein is said to help you lose weight by encouraging your body to shed fat while building muscle.

Losing weight with proteins

Some scientists also attribute a cell-rejuvenating and thus life-prolonging effect to sirtuins. The basic idea behind the sirtfood diet is to only eat foods that are rich in sirtuins.

The whole thing came up with two nutritionists from the USA, Glen Matten and Aidan Goggins, and are already enjoying great success with the idea and the book “The Sirtfood Diet”.

Foods containing sirtuin

Eating only foods rich in sirtuins is not easy. Because the list of these foods is varied, but at the same time quite limited.

The following foods are particularly high in sirtuin:

  • buckwheat
  • walnuts
  • Parsely
  • garlic
  • Military
  • Turmeric
  • Saddlery
  • Rocket
  • Kale
  • capers
  • Red onions
  • Cold pressed olive oil
  • Chilis
  • Ginger
  • Avocados
  • Broccoli
  • shrimp
  • blueberries
  • strawberries
  • dark chocolate
  • Green tea
  • Black coffee
  • red wine

Animal products (other than shrimp) are not on the list of sirt foods. This makes this diet particularly suitable for vegetarians and veganson the other hand also presents meat lovers with a special challenge.

This is how the diet works

With the sirt food diet, three kilos should tumble within two weeks. The nutrition plan stipulates that you only eat a maximum of 1,000 kilocalories on the first three days. On all subsequent days, 1,500 kilocalories are allowed.

A typical lunchtime meal might look like this:

Cauliflower broccoli millet with shrimp

Ingredients for one serving:

3 king prawns

150 Gramm Couscous

100 Grams of Broccoli

100 grams of cauliflower

2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil

60 milliliters vegetable broth

100 milliliters of water

3 capers

Salt, Chili, Thyme

Prepare the couscous according to the instructions on the packet and season it with the thyme. Then remove the stalk from the broccoli and cauliflower and cut them into small cubes. Then fry the vegetables in a pan with a little oil.

Then you pour in the vegetable broth and let the whole thing simmer together with the capers for about 15 minutes. Finally, season the shrimp with salt and chili and fry them on both sides for three minutes. Finally mix everything together and serve.

Does the Sirtfood Diet Work?

It is questionable whether the sirtuins are actually responsible for weight loss. Your normal calorie requirement is somewhere between 2,000 and 2,500 kilocalories. It is obvious that you will lose weight if you only eat half of it for weeks. The alleged rejuvenating effect of sirt food has not yet been clearly proven. This is where opinions differ.

Finally, the sirt food diet is a prime candidate for the dreaded yo-yo effect. If you eat like this again after two weeks, like before the diet, you quickly regain the pounds you lost. And Sirtfood, with its limited list of foods, is certainly not suitable for a permanent change in diet.

You lose weight more sustainably, for example, if you permanently avoid sugar and change your diet:
