Weight Loss Action: When weight loss leads to increased donations

A total of 46.7 kilos were lost during our “Ran to the Corona-Bacon” campaign. The “index of need” can look forward to 10 euros per pound.

The many restrictions during various lockdowns in the corona pandemic meant that sports facilities were closed and meetings for joint exercise were only permitted to a limited extent. So here and there one or the other pound has started. Seven readers took part in our campaign during Lent “Ran an den Corona-Speck” involved and lost a total of 46.7 kilograms in 44 days under the guidance of fitness influencer Renate Dumreicher and nutritionist Florian Kempter. The Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee has offered ten euros for every pound that the deputy chairman of the board, Wolfgang Zettl, is now paying to Arndt Hansen, the managing director of the card of distress presented.

“Many plan to lose weight, but you have put it into practice,” said Zettl, impressed, and spoke of a win-win situation. For the participants who did something for their health and were able to do something together during the Corona period, and for people who are not on the sunny side of life. “Your weight loss is a gain for people who have other concerns than losing weight through diet,” said Arndt Hansen, expressing his respect. Mathematically, the 46.7 kilos would have meant 934 euros. The Sparkasse Schwaben-Bodensee rounded up the donation amount to 1000 euros.

The AOK health insurance company supported the participants with various sporting accessories. Sarah Zatocil and Veronika Schmid had a “pocket gym” ready for everyone in the form of a gymnastics band. After all, success should not be gambled away so quickly. “We will continue to stick to certain habits,” promised Anita Schneider, who lost a record-breaking 11.5 kilos in 44 days.
