Increasing global insecurity caused by the war in Ukraine and rising inflation would indeed be reason enough to address citizens’ concerns. The parties established here can show that they understand the main fears of the majority of the population: culture and economic disruption. If you can come up with a general answer to both, you have a “winning formula” so to speak. Frankly, it is especially important to give citizens the feeling that their social position is not threatened. This, in turn, requires massive state intervention, whether by controlling immigration for national interests or mitigating global economic imbalances with a strong welfare state. Only those politicians who are “quite conservative” on cultural issues and “quite left” on economic issues can satisfy both needs at the same time.
