In Poland, a video of a priest’s violence against a student caused outrage. The half-minute long video shows the religion teacher pressing the young man’s head against a school desk with his hands and repeatedly demanding an apology. According to the TVN24 news channel, last Friday a classmate secretly recorded this process at a support center in the central Polish diocese of Plock.

The minister says in the video, “God deserves respect, you know? The boy should apologize to God. However, he replies that he will never apologize. What happened to the record is unknown. National Child Rights Officer Mikolaja Pawlaka called for consequences. “No one – regardless of position – should use violence against a child,” he wrote on Twitter on Tuesday. The headmistress told the broadcaster that she suspended the priest and informed the police. (KNA)
