3 quick dishes that taste good


Children always find something to complain about in the food. If it were up to them, there would be pasta with ketchup 24/7. Much better, because they are also healthier, are the following three stew recipes that will convince even the most discerning eater.

When it comes to food, all children have their likes and dislikes. Sometimes it seems almost impossible to combine parental and childish tastes. But especially in the cold autumn and winter months, the extra portion of vegetables in a hot, steaming stew is not only necessary, but just right for everyone.

That’s why we went in search of stew recipes that everyone really liked. Not an easy exercise, but we actually found what we were looking for. So out with the pots and off to the stove. Here are three stew recipes with guaranteed enjoyment for young and old, which we have tested on particularly critical gourmets!

#1 grandma’s sausage stew for little carnivores

Especially during the week, lunchtime has to be quick. But it should also taste good and fill you up and, if possible, also contain vitamins in the form of vegetables. The sausage stew, like my grandma used to make, is just right. It is particularly practical that you can easily use up leftover potatoes from the lecture.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 2 onions
  • 6-8 sausages (also vegetarian)
  • 800 g potatoes (about 8-10 medium-sized potatoes) from the day before
  • Vegetables of your choice (e.g. frozen carrot-pea-corn mix)
  • 125 ml vegetable broth
  • 125 ml Sahne
  • 300ml milk
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt pepper

Preparation:

1. Depending on how much your children like to eat onions, cut them (as) small (as necessary) and fry them in a medium-sized saucepan.

2. Cut the sausages or veggie sausages into slices and sauté briefly with the onions. Then add the frozen vegetables. If you prefer to use fresh vegetables, it is advisable to swap points 3 and 4 below. Because the vegetables should be done before you put the already cooked potatoes in the stew.

3. Cut the boiled potatoes into bite-sized pieces and add them to the onions, vegetables and sausages.

4. Whisk together the broth, milk and cream with the tomato paste and add to the saucepan. Bring everything to a boil and season with salt and pepper if necessary. But be careful: the vegetable broth already gives the soup a good salt note. So it’s better to approach it sparingly here. Et voilà, bon appetit.

#2 Fastest Minced Vegetable Stew

Anyone who thinks that minced meat only belongs in a classic cheese and leek soup is wrong. Because the chopped up meat also comes into its own in any other stew. This is also the case in our quick minced vegetable stew. There is also space for pasta specialties that children love so much.

Ingredients for 4 servings:

  • 300 g mince (mixed or beef)
  • 1-2 cloves of garlic
  • 1.5 l broth (vegetable or meat)
  • 450 g frozen vegetables of your choice
  • 1 can of diced tomatoes
  • 250 g fresh tortellini or tortellini
  • 200 g sour cream
  • 150 – 200 g cream cheese
  • 4 tbsp tomato paste
  • Salt pepper
  • optional dried oregano & basil

Preparation:

1. Fry the minced meat in a saucepan with a tablespoon of olive oil. In the meantime, finely chop the garlic and add to the meat when it is cooked through.

2. Pour in the broth, add the diced tomatoes and your choice of vegetables. Let everything cook for 15 to 20 minutes.

3. Now add sour cream, melted cheese and tomato paste and mix well.

4. In the last step, add the pasta selection and cook until done. Then just season, taste and you’re done.

Tipp: If your children don’t like filled pasta, simply replace them with Spirelli, Farfalle or croissant pasta. Depending on the cooking time, add them to the broth and only add sour cream and melted cheese when the pasta is cooked al dente.
