The dumplings are quick to make with a little practice. You can prepare them with a quark dough and breadcrumbs in three quarters of an hour.

Do you want to surprise your guests with a simple and delicious dish? You will succeed with apricot dumplings. The sweet main course originally comes from Austria and is based on a simple quark or potato dough. Of course you need apricots for this, so apricots (fresh or canned) and last but not least: breadcrumbs. For the recipe with a quark dough you also need the following ingredients:

  • 300 g Quark
  • 50 g Butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 120 grams of flour
  • 100 grams of semolina
  • 10 apricots
  • 10 pieces of sugar cubes
  • 1 pinch of salt

Prepare apricot dumplings – this is how it works step by step

1. For the apricot dumplings, first mix the butter and the egg in a bowl and mix in the quark. Then add flour, semolina and a pinch of salt. Now mix all the ingredients and let the dough rest for 15 to 20 minutes.

2. Now you can core the apricots and fill each with a sugar cube.

3. Form a roll out of the dough and cut it into ten pieces. Press the pieces flat with your hand on a floured work surface and place a stuffed apricot on each. You should place the apricot in the middle and then wrap the dough over it. Now form the dumplings so that they are nice and round.

4. In the last step, place the apricot dumplings in boiling salted water. Leave to stand for ten minutes and then carefully remove so that the water can drip off.

5. Now only those are missing breadcrumbs. For this you need the following ingredients:

  • 50 g Butter
  • 125g breadcrumbs
  • 50 grams of sugar
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon

For the breadcrumbs, add the sugar to the Butter caramelize slightly. Then add the breadcrumbs and mix everything in the warm saucepan.

6. At the end, roll the dumplings in the breadcrumbs and sprinkle with a little powdered sugar if necessary.
