ChatGPT is the latest AI chatbot from the OpenAI Foundation, funded by Elon Musk and Microsoft. From 2022 in November the public can try one version for free.
Our author Christopher Lauer tested the program and asked how it would explain itself. ChatGPT has also written music for him for movies, created a new episode of his favorite series and programmed an app for his iPhone.
The results are impressive: ChatGPT’s responses are practically indistinguishable from a human. However, there are pitfalls.
Artificial intelligence (short: KI) known from science fiction: HAL 9000 in Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A Space Odyssey, Data from Star Trek: The Next Generation or Samantha from Spike Jonze “hers” – computer programs or androids that are practically indistinguishable from people.
What was long considered science fiction is now becoming a reality thanks to advances in computer science. On the one hand, more and more computing power is available, and on the other, great progress has been made in the field of machine learning with so-called artificial neural networks. In general, an artificial neural network imitates the neurons of the nervous system of a living being.
This network can now be trained using data, and given the complexity of the process, the end result will be an artificial intelligence that can do what was previously thought only humans could do.
Some of the most impressive artificial intelligence currently available to the public is being developed by the OpenAI Foundation. The foundation is largely funded by Elon Musk and Microsoft and previously made a name for itself with DALL E and DALL E 2, a program that can create images on demand. For example, the main photo of this article was created like this. The latest Development of AI ChatGPT is a member of the OpenAI Foundation.
What is ChatGPT?
GPT stands for “generative pre-trained transformer”. Simply put, ChatGPT is an artificial neural network that reads a lot of text and can communicate with people through a chat window.
For example, you can ask ChatGPT: “You want me to write an article about you, what do you think are the most important things I should mention about ChatGPT?”
ChatGPT’s response is: “If you’re writing an article about me as ChatGPT, you should mention the following: I’m a big language model trained by OpenAI to understand and generate text in different languages. My main job is to answer text questions and requests to provide users with information and entertainment. I’m an artificial intelligence and have no personal experience or opinion, but based my answers on the text I was trained on.
I can’t surf the web or consume other media like TV shows or movies, but I can only access the text I’ve learned. My goal is to help users by providing quick, accurate and helpful answers to their questions.
ChatGPT can create a new James Bond theme or an episode of your favorite series
But ChatGPT is primarily fascinated by what is commonly referred to as shared knowledge. So I asked them WHYto write a Bond song with sheet music and the result was a text with sheet music that could really be a Bond song. What was remarkable was that I didn’t have to explain who James Bond is and what he does, and most importantly, not what a Bond song is.
ChatGPT knows the second law of thermodynamics and can explain why it makes the perpetuum mobile impossible. I also asked ChatGPT to write an episode of Rick and Morty and ChatGPT wrote it. I never had to explain what…
